Columbia River Correctional Institution

CRCI Art Workshops
Various workshops: screenprinting, bookmaking, mural painting, gender & sexuality discussion group

I have been a volunteer program facilitator at Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI), a minimum security men's facility in North Portland, since 2014. In direct response to interests expressed by individuals currently incarcerated at CRCI, I have taught various workshops including screenprinting, bookmaking, and mural painting. We currently meet bi-monthly for a Gender & Sexuality Justice discussion group (a page of notes from our first meeting pictured below). I am interested in how art making can be used to illuminate and undermine the epidemic of mass incarceration in the US.
